A pub owner has thrown open his bar to devastated staff he had to lay off and other jobseekers hours before it was forced to close due to the coronavirus lockdown.

The owner of a number of venues around the coastal town of Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast took to social media overnight, inviting those who had lost their jobs to come and responsibly drink his kegs dry.

These days it seems that most people know someone who has been touched with cancer and Gabby Baker is no different. After she lost her friend to the disease in January she wanted to do something to raise money for cancer research. Not necessarily for a particular cancer, but she wanted to raise money so that researchers can continue to look into new treatments, prevention and ultimately a cure.
